Gisbert zu Knyphausen | Kai Schumacher | Sebastian Deufel | Michael Flury | Marcus Schneider | Felix Weigt: Lass irre Hunde heulen

Franz Schubert was the great singer-songwriter of the 19th century. He wrote not only for elegant concert halls, but also for small, private circles. Many of the themes Schubert explores in his songs are very relevant today: the fear of homelessness, the longing for warmth and humanity, resistance to the rigid norms of the establishment.

When Gisbert zu Knyphausen juxtaposes Schubert's songs with his own, the parallels become immediately apparent: there is a deep melancholy that connects both soundscapes, a beauty that comes directly from pain. But there is also a hunger for life, for friendship and love, for intoxication and partying.
