Introduction: Special Edition

What does Gustav Mahler's music have to do with the issues of our time?
As part of the Mahler Ambassador Project, the Mahler Academy Orchestra brings together young people from the cities on its concert tour—to a very special place: Dobbiaco in the Dolomites, where Gustav Mahler spent his summers and worked on his Ninth Symphony. For one week, the ambassadors spend time up close with the orchestra and immerse themselves in Mahler’s music and the story behind its creation. Through workshops, discussions, and creative activities, they explore themes such as social change, the environment, identity, life, death, and loss—and discover what Mahler’s music still has to say to us today.
During the concert introduction, the Ambassadors share their personal impressions and discoveries with the audience—offering a unique perspective on Mahler’s Ninth Symphony.
