Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel

Philharmonie Südwestfalen | Christian Schumann
For some, roasted almonds are a must for Christmas, for others, it must be hazelnuts – exactly three of them. Fairy tale fans' eyes should already light up, as these nuts are the three most important magical tools in one of the world's most beautiful fairy tale films. Since its theatrical premiere in 1973 in what was then Czechoslovakia, »Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel« (Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella) has been broadcast in over 50 countries around the world, bringing a bit of fairy tale magic to our living rooms every Christmas.
This winter, the beautiful Cinderella and her prince can once again look forward to a very special stage: The Kölner Philharmonie will be transformed into the setting for their enchanting love story. While the fairy tale film unfolds on a giant screen, the film soundtrack by Czech composer Karel Svoboda will be played live by a large symphony orchestra, almost transforming the audience into attendees at the court ball themselves. And if you look closely, you might even spot a dainty shoe on one of the steps...
