»O Fortuna« is how Carl Orff's Carmina Burana begins – based on medieval texts. The opus, consisting of Latin and German vagabond songs with lyrics about spring and love, the praise of drinking, and chivalrous love festivals, made the composer famous overnight: even in the Middle Ages, there was pure joie de vivre!
