Bach in Space

Distant galaxies, nebulae, black holes – the universe closer than ever before! On a giant screen, razor-sharp NASA images shine in colours usually seen only in science fiction films. Accompanying this, pianist Mona Asuka performs music by Johann Sebastian Bach – at times powerful, at times delicate, always surprising. 

Image and music merge, the gaze wanders into infinity – and suddenly Bach’s music seems as though it had been written just for this moment. The programme features highlights such as excerpts from the ‘Well-Tempered Clavier’, the ‘Goldberg Variations’ and the ‘Italian Concerto’. Music and the cosmos merge together on this evening. A concert that feels like a journey through space and time.
