From Liverpool to Venice: Beatles songs in baroque tones

Beatles meet Baroque: Even though there are a good 300 years between the mop-tops from Liverpool and the master composers of the Baroque era, the Fab Four share with Bach and Vivaldi their unique talent for writing timeless hits.

It is often the catchy and simple melodies that give the songs and concert movements their magical effect. Bach achieves this in his third Brandenburg Concerto, as does Vivaldi in the concertos from his Opus 3 »L'estro armonico«, which are among the most frequently performed works by the »prete rosso«, as Vivaldi was called because of his red hair. The young saxophonist Asya Fateyeva plays the arranged Beatles hits with the same dedication and virtuosity as the Baroque works. This is entirely in line with her motivation: »I find it fascinating how imaginative, creative and versatile art can be.«

Asya Fateyeva is one of the outstanding representatives of classical saxophone and, as one observer once said, »she plays the alto saxophone so elegantly and confidently that the beauty of the sound she conjures up beguiles everyone.« This Sunday afternoon will be characterised by high energy and musical versatility.
