Adventurers – Măcelaru & Strauss
Maximilian Hornung | Tomasz Neugebauer | WDR Sinfonieorchester | Cristian Măcelaru

This special concert evening, conducted by Cristian Măcelaru, former principal conductor of the WDR Sinfonieorchester, is marked by dreamlike moments. The focus is on Richard Strauss' tone poem »Don Quixote«. Led by the violoncello and viola, the poetic sounds tell of chivalrous adventures that range from irony to profundity. Anton Webern's early Passacaglia combines late Romantic fire with architectural clarity, while Richard Wagner's rapturous prelude and the glowing »Liebestod« from the opera »Tristan und Isolde« captivate the audience again and again.
