30 Jahre ECHO Rising Stars

You don't need a crystal ball to predict a continued glittering career for the exclusive selection of rising stars in the coming season – just an open ear. They include the multi-award-winning Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili and the Italian Trio Concept. Áron Horváth, accompanied by his quartet, brings the cymbal, which is similar to a harpsichord in terms of sound and etymology but more closely related to the xylophone or marimba in terms of playing technique, to philharmonic honours. In their Dialogue of doubt, the duo Valerie Fritz and Goran Stevanovich also prove themselves to be beyond any musical doubt with their unusual combination of cello and accordion. Under the current motto »Migration«, Icelandic soprano Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir and Florida-born pianist Kunal Lahiry devote themselves to compositions from the early classical period to the present day. The Dutch-Portuguese Maat Saxophone Quartet covers an even wider range – from Hildegard von Bingen to Paul McCartney and a new composition by Serbian-American composer Aleksandra Vrebalov. Rising stars – always on the rise.
