Whether in the secular entertainment repertoire with Bach's Brandenburg Concertos and Vivaldi's operas, or in the devotional sacred music of motets and masses, Baroque music always gets straight to the point. To bring out the full sonic splendour, emotionality and sophistication of this music, specialist ensembles such as Collegium 1704 and its associated vocal ensemble, Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra are needed. And, of course, last but not least, the Ensemble Concerto Köln, which is also celebrating its 40th anniversary with its performance at the Philharmonie. Le Consort and mezzo-soprano Adèle Charvet recall the legendary Venetian Teatro Sant'Angelo with Italian opera arias from the early 18th century. The beguiling voices of Voces Suaves, accompanied by the instrumental ensemble Gli Incogniti under the baton of violinist and early music expert Amandine Beyer, recall the biblical Passion story in Buxtehude's »Membra Jesu«.
