Do you still have to travel to the USA to experience a good big band? No, a visit to Cologne is enough, and has been for more than four decades. Even for Americans, it is considered a special event, a highlight in the concert calendar, when the multiple Grammy Award-winning WDR Big Band goes on tour in the States. A premium orchestra, internationally cast and peppered with exceptional talents.
So it's a privilege to have the musicians as guests at the Philharmonie on two dates in the subscription series. The jazz subscription series is rounded off by prominent representatives of the younger generation. Emmet Cohen, one of the most sought-after musicians on the New York jazz scene, will be performing with his trio. The annual critics' and readers' polls of the renowned Down Beat Magazine consistently rank the pianist at the very top since he won the American Pianists Award in 2019, in addition to countless other competition successes. Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana, who was invited to the Panama Jazz Festival by the legendary Danilo Pérez at the age of 16, is expected to perform with her well-rehearsed quartet. And as one of the leading voices of European jazz, Swiss vocalist Lucia Cadotsch will present her current band and album project.

The return must be registered with the subscription service at least 14 days before the subscription concert date to be cancelled. After the return, you will receive a Flex voucher, which you can redeem flexibly until the end of the concert season for a ticket booking for a concert organised by KölnMusik.
