WDR Big Band meets Dee Dee Bridgewater

For decades, American singer Dee Dee Bridgewater has been one of the defining voices of jazz. She moves effortlessly between modern styles, swing, standards and soul. She won Grammys for her albums »Dear Ella« (1997) and »To Billie with Love from Dee Dee« (2010) – two musical tributes to her great idols Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.
Bridgewater began her career in the early 1970s as a singer with the legendary Thad Jones-/Mel-Lewis Band. She continued to work with major jazz ensembles, including the WDR Big Band in 1997.
Now that Dee Dee Bridgewater is returning to the WDR Big Band after almost thirty years, and composer-in-residence Vince Mendoza has arranged pieces from Bridgewater's extensive repertoire especially for this reunion, it promises to be a very special concert evening.
