The symphony orchestra is one of the most spectacular ensembles in music history. In Cologne, we are once again delighted to welcome some of the world's most important ensembles: the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with Jukka-Pekka Saraste, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra with Finnish conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen. Lahav Shani can be heard twice in this subscription series, once with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Yefim Bronfman as soloist in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, and then again in his performance with the Münchner Philharmoniker, when he himself takes on the solo part in Mozart's last piano concerto.
