In Memoriam Jeroen Bal

We are dedicating the final concert of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s portrait in memory of Jeroen Bal. Jeroen Bal was originally scheduled to perform a chamber music recital alongside Alexei Ogrintchouk and Jérôme Fruchart on June 14 at the Kölner Philharmonie. Bal, who was the first pianist ever to join the Concertgebouw Orchestra, had been a member of the orchestra since 2019. The Dutch pianist also performed as a soloist with international orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Bal passed away at the end of January after a long illness.

Hans Eijsackers will take over the piano part in the concert on June 14.
