Wagner's Ring historically informed: Concerto Köln is entering new territory in historical performance practice. On many occasions this famous period-instrument orchestra has performed symphonic repertoire from the 19th century, but now for the first time it's setting its sights on Romantic opera, under the direction of Kent Nagano, with Richard Wagner's “The Ring of the Nibelung”. In a project spanning a number of years and a variety of concerts, Concerto Köln and Kent Nagano take on Wagner's musical language and his mammoth work – contrasting it with compositions by Anton Bruckner, Niccolò Paganini and Hector Berlioz among others.
