FELIX!

Originalklang in Köln

When in 1829 Felix Mendelssohn gave the first performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's St. Matthew Passion since the composer's death, in a sense he laid the foundation stone for the historically informed or period-instrument performance style that is still gaining in popularity today. But the new FELIX! festival, held over a long weekend, is not only dedicated to authentic performances of western music from different eras. This programme at the Kölner Philharmonie and other venues also casts its gaze as far as Japan and Indonesia, bringing a massively diverse range of world-music stories to Cologne.
